Layerize.it respects your privacy and believes in transparency about data collection.

This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We collect minimal data and prioritize privacy-friendly tools wherever possible.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to understand how visitors use our site. This is GDPR-compliant, doesn't use cookies, and doesn't track you across websites.

What we collect

  • Pages visited - Which pages you view on our site
  • Country - Your approximate location at country level only
  • Device type - Whether you're on desktop, mobile, or tablet
  • Browser - Which browser you use
  • Referrer - Where you came from (search engine, direct link, etc.)

What we don't collect

  • Cookies - No tracking cookies stored on your device
  • Personal information - No names, emails, or identifiers
  • IP addresses - Your IP address is not logged or stored
  • Cross-site tracking - We don't track you across other websites

All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. Individual visitors cannot be identified from this data. We use this information solely to improve the website and understand which features are most useful.

Opt out of tracking

You can opt out of analytics tracking at any time. When you opt out, we'll stop collecting analytics data from your browser. Your preference is stored locally in your browser and will persist across visits.

Error and Performance Monitoring

The application uses Sentry to identify and fix errors. Sentry is a privacy-focused monitoring service that helps developers understand when and why the application is not working as expected. All data is handled with the following privacy protections:

What is collected

  • Error reports - When the app crashes or an error occurs, a report is sent with technical details to help fix the bug.
  • Performance data - Anonymized performance metrics are collected for 10% of users to ensure the app is fast and responsive.
  • Stack traces - Technical information about the code that caused an error.

What is not collected

  • Personal Information - No personally identifiable information (PII) such as emails, usernames, or IP addresses are sent.
  • Sensitive URL data - Query parameters from URLs are removed before sending to protect privacy.
  • Development errors - Errors from local development environments are not collected.

Session Replays for Errors

For 50% of sessions that result in an error, a 'session replay' may be captured. This is a short animation of the user's interactions leading up to the error, which is invaluable for debugging. These replays are configured with maximum privacy settings:

  • All text is masked - Any text you see or type is replaced with placeholder blocks.
  • All media is blocked - Images and videos are not captured.
  • All inputs are masked - Anything you type into a form field is hidden.

This information is used exclusively for identifying and fixing bugs and improving the application's performance. It is not used for marketing or tracking individuals.

Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences. This data is stored only on your device and never leaves your browser. We cannot access this data remotely.

Theme preference

Your choice of light or dark mode is saved so the site remembers your preference on future visits.

Analytics opt-out

If you opt out of analytics tracking, your choice is stored locally so we don't track you on future visits.

The App

When you use the Layerize.it application, all image processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your images are never uploaded to our servers or transmitted over the internet.

  • Client-side processing: All image conversion and halftone generation happens in your browser
  • No uploads: Your images are never sent to our servers or any third-party services
  • No storage: We don't store, cache, or retain any image data
  • No tracking: We don't track what images you process or what settings you use

License Purchases

License purchases are processed through Gumroad, a third-party payment processor. When you purchase a license, you provide your information directly to Gumroad, not to us.

What Gumroad collects

  • Email address: To deliver your license key and send purchase receipts
  • Payment information: Credit card or payment method details (processed securely by Gumroad)
  • Billing details: Name and billing address required for payment processing

Your Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar data protection regulations, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. Since we collect minimal data, most of these rights can be exercised directly through this page.

Right to deletion

Since we don't store personal data beyond your email for license delivery, there's minimal data to delete. Contact us if you'd like your email removed from our records.
